Thank you to everyone who continues to support Mackenzie Health with their volunteer applications. Unfortunately, we will not be running a Summer Student Program this year due to Covid-19. We are working to renew volunteer services in a safe and timely manner at Mackenzie Richmond Hill Hospital with our current volunteers only. However,we are pleased to announce that we are ready to start recruiting for Cortellucci Vaughan Hospital.
We continue to accept general applications for Mackenzie Richmond Hill Hospital from Post Secondary Students and Adults. We will contact selected applicants once we determine our needs for Fall/Winter 2020. At this time, we are not accepting applications from High School Students for Fall 2020. We will continue to monitor both our internal and external environments to determine when we will be ready to accept new High School Volunteers.
We have now opened the application portal for the new Cortellucci Vaughan Hospital. We will be contacting selected applicants to arrange virtual interviews. Interviews will occur between July and October 2020 with an anticipated start date between November 2020 and February 2021. When you submit your application, please indicate placements that interest you as well as your anticipated availability in 2021. The first round of interviews will target Wayfinding roles (GPS and Welcome Centre), followed by Clinical area roles and finally, closer to opening, we will target administrative and support roles. We are recruiting for 700 volunteers, so you may not hear from us immediately after applying. We anticipate a busy but exciting time over the next few months and hope you will join us on this unique journey.
When assessing applications, we first narrow the field to complete and accurate applications that offer a glimpse of the volunteers personality and highlight what qualities the applicant would bring to the patient experience. Then, we look for applicants whose experience, interest and availability matches our current vacancies.
For Student Volunteers, we look for students that are able to manage the application process on their own as well as manage their own schedule. Part of demonstrating this maturity is communicating on your own behalf whether by phone, email or in-person. We do not discuss applications, interviews or placements with anyone other than the applicant. For parents or guardians wishing more information about a applicant's progress, we ask that you speak with the applicant as we are not able to provide you with that information.
When preparing an application, please consider your ability to fully commit to the program and the patients at Mackenzie Health. We enforce a very high standard for attendance and punctuality. Volunteers in this program must be able to maintain their commitment to their volunteer placement even during periods of heavy school workload and exams.
